A New Student Residence Hall at the Sluzewiec Campus
Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, UW Rector, and Mota-Engil Central Europe company representatives signed an agreement for construction and assembly works on a new student residence hall at the Sluzewiec Campus. This is one of the plans under the UW Multiannual Programme. The works are starting this year.
The Climate Change and Sustainable Development Agenda
Facing the climate change and its consequent challenges, the UW Rector’s Team for Ecology and Climate Crisis has issued a document that describes strategic ”milestones” to be achieved by the University of Warsaw in the forthcoming years. The Agenda refers to the Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the United Nations.
December with VC UW
On the 3rd December the University Volunteer Centre (UVC) will be celebrating the 8th anniversary, and the International Volunteer Day 2 days later as well. To commemorate these events, UVC and volunteers prepare several actions and activities like “Mission: Christmas Card” or a pet food bank called “Filling in Pets’ Bellies”.
Final session of two EIT Food programmes
A double recap under EIT Food PSRAL (Public Sector Representatives Activity Line) – coordinated by the UW Faculty of Management – EIT Food RIS Government Executive Academy (GEA) and EIT Food RIS Research Infrastructure Network (RIN) will be held on 1st December.
Online meeting on the legalisation of stay in Poland
On 24th and 25th November, Welcome Point organises two informational meetings on the legalisation of stay in Poland. During the webinar, participants will learn the most important legal aspects regarding their residence in Poland during their studies and after graduation. The application deadline is 22nd November.
UW researchers among the 2021 FNP Prize laureates
Two UW academics Prof. Jacek Jemielity from the Centre of New Technologies and Prof. Cezary Cieśliński from the Faculty of Philosophy, have been awarded the Foundation for Polish Science Prize – one of the most prestigious in Poland. 
90 new spacetime quakes detected by Virgo and LIGO
35 new events detected by LIGO and Virgo in their latest observation period bring to 90 the gravitational waves detected so far. In the observations took part researchers from the University of Warsaw Astronomical Observatory.
